CHANGE OF VOICE INVOLVING TENSES.

PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE
RULE:- IS/ AM/ ARE + 3rd FORM OF VERB.
1)   Active: Rashmi writes a letter.

Passive: A letter is written by Rashmi.

2)   Active: Carpenter makes chairs.

Passive: Chairs are made by carpenter.


PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE


RULE:- IS/ AM /ARE+ BEING+3RD FORM OF VERB.
1)   Active: Sonia is telling a story.

Passive: A story is being told by Sonia.

2)   Active: The carpenter is making a chair.

Passive: A chair is being made by the carpenter.


PRESENT PERFECT TENSE


RULE:- HAS/ HAVE +BEEN +3RD FORM OF VERB.
1)   Active: You have cheated me.

Passive: I have been cheated by you.

2)   Active: She has sung a song

Passive: A song has been sung by her.


PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE


THE SENTENCES WITH THIS TENSE CANNOT BE CHANGED INTO PASSIVE VOICE. PAST SIMPLE TENSE

RULE:- WAS/ WERE + 3RD FORM OF VERB.

1)   Active: Priyanka helped Varun.

Passive: Varun was hepled by Priyanka.

2)   Active: Virat Kohli broke the records.

Passive: The records were broken by Virat Kohli.

 

PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE


RULE:- WAS/WERE+BEING+3RD FORM OF THE VERB.
1)   Active: They were playing football.

Passive: Football was being played by them.

2)   Active: She was helping the poor.

Passive: The poor were being helped by her.

 

PAST PERFECT TENSE


RULE:- HAD+BEEN+3RD FORM OF THE VERB.
1)   Active: Komal had done his work.

Passive: His work had been done by Komal.

2)   Active: Ramesh had helped me.

Passive: I had been helped by Ramesh.

 

PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS


THE SENTENCES WITH THIS TENSE CANNOT BE CHANGED INTO PASSIVE VOICE. FUTURE SIMPLE TENSE

RULE:- WILL/SHALL+BE+3RD FORM OF THE VERB.

1)   Active: Anuj will write a letter.

Passive: A letter will be written by Anuj.

2)   Active: Manu will help Tanu.

Passive: Tanu will be helped by Manu.

 

FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE


THE SENTENCES WITH THIS TENSE CANNOT BE CHANGED INTO PASSIVE VOICE. FUTURE PERFECT TENSE

RULE:- WILL/SHALL+HAVE+BEEN+3RD FORM OF THE VERB.

1)   Active: Aman will have sung a song.

Passive: A song will have been sung by Aman.

2)   Active: Rajan will have received the letter.

Passive: The letter will have been received by Rajan.

 

FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS


THE SENTENCES WITH THIS TENSE CANNOT BE CHANGED INTO PASSIVE VOICE.
