AN INDIAN FESTIVAL
India………….known for festivals…………..Diwali……Hindu festival………..Lord Rama’s return from exile…….people clean their houses and shops…………..light their houses………send greetings……presents…worship Goddess Laxmi……….children explode crackers……..some people gamble………
Diwali is an important Indian festival. It comes on Kartik Purnima. It comes 20 days after Dussehra. On this day Sri Ram came back to Ayodhya after 14 years. This festival is celebrated in every village and town in India.
People clean their houses and shops. They wear new clothes. They wish Happy Diwali to one another. Bazaars are full of sweet shops and fire-cracker shops. People worship goddess Laxmi at night. Children explode crackers. People light diyas and candles. We shouls celebrate it happily.
GOOD MANNERS
Good manners oil the machine of life….earn us respect….’please’ and ‘thank you’ settle bitter quarrels….should be observed……respect elders…..be polite to the younger…..talk less and listen more……take turn in queue……civility of behaviour is a moral obligation…….bad manners create bitterness
Good manners oil the machine of life. They are necessary in every field of life. They earn us respect. They are a double blessing. They give us inner joy.They also keep others happy.
Words like PLEASE and THANK YOU settle bitter quarrels. We should respect our elders. We should be kind to the younger. We should talk less and listen more. Good manners win friends for us. Bad manners create bitterness. They should be given up.
MY MOTHERLAND
India is my motherland….also the motherland of many saints and sages…….warriors…..oldest civilization……biggest democracy……torch bearer of the world peace process…….different religions and cultural backgrounds…….unity in diversity…….progress in science……nuclear power state……heritage…….natural resources……..hard-working people……..proud of my motherland
India is my motherland. Most of the people here live in villages. There are many big cities in our country. India is a land of Kalidas, Kabir and Guru Nanak. India is a very big country. There are big Himalayas in the north. In the south, there is the great Indian Ocean. In the west, there is Arabian Sea. In the east, there is the Bay of Bengal.
India has great Thar Desert in Rajasthan. The Ganga and the Brahamputra are very long rivers. India has many big lakes and forests also. Indian soil is very fertile. Many kinds of crops are grown in India. India is also a land of tigers, lions, peacocks and elephants. Indian army is very brave. Indian people are very hard-working. I am proud of my motherland.
FASHION AMONG STUDENTS
Students……very particular about fashions…..ape actors and actresses……competition among them…..health clubs……beauty parlours……boutiques……students are conscious regarding their physical looks……put on expensive clothes……nothing wrong in this……..but they should not devote all their time and energy to fashions.
Students of today are fashionable. They spend most of their time in looking smart. They copy heroes and heroines. They are very crazy for fashions. They take special care of their hairstyles.
They also visit health clubs and beauty-parlours. They spend less time on study and more time on fashion. They have made fashion their god. Fashion is not a bad thing. But they should be serious about their careers too.
DISCIPLINE
Discipline is the backbone of character…..comes from the word ‘disciple’…..plays important role in family…..in school….in playground…..in office…..soldiers follow whatever is commanded….even objects of nature follow discipline
Discipline is the backbone of character. Discipline means following rules. They are very necessary in our lives. Discipline is needed in all fields like schools, colleges, home, hospitals etc. in army it is must.
Students follow discipline in schools and colleges. Players have to obey the rules of the games. Life without discipline is like a plane without a pilot. Nature also follows discipline. We should adopt it in our lives.
SCENE AT A RAILWAY STATION
Spend some time at the railway station…..like watching trains….before the arrival of a train….growing excitement and activity…..some in great hurry…..some unhappy at the departure of loved ones…..coolies run……vendor boys move in and out of the train……jostling and elbowing…..after the train has left….platform gives a deserted look.
A scene at a railway station is very colourful. Last Sunday my father went to Delhi by train. I went to the station with him. There was a great rush. Many people were coming and going.The trains were also coming and going regularly. There were many types of stall. Some were reading newspapers.
Some were taking tea. Some were busy on their mobile phones. Coolins were carrying luggage of passengers. There were loud announcements about the trains. Some policemen were also on duty. I really liked the scene very much.
SCENE AT A POLLING BOOTH
The election day……full of excitement…..my school…..polling centre……feverish activity…..rush of voters……cars, mini-buses used to bring candidates from homes……free drinks offered to voters….polling officer enquired the names of voters…..verified identity cards……after casting votes, ink mark put on voter’s left forefinger…..booth closed at
Last Sunday, MC elections were held in our city. My school was also a polling station. The day was full of activity. Polling started at 7 am. In the beginning, the polling was very slow. But at 9 am there were big rows of voters. New voters looked very happy.
 There were tents of polling parties. Old aged voters were brought in vehicles. The polling staff was very active. They were expert in their work. The voting was held with EVM. The police staff was also very alert. The polling ended at 6 pm. It was really a wonderful day.
A VISIT TO A BOOK FAIR
Last Sunday…..with friends…..visited a book fair……a spectacle to watch….many publishing houses displayed their books….I bought some……had tea and snacks…..even small children enthusiastic……bought a book for my younger brother…..returned happy and contented.
Last Monday, my friends and I went to see a book fair. It was organized by D.A.V. Public School in our city. It was held in a very big hall. There were mant book stalls. There was a great rush of book-lovers.
 Many of them were students and teachers. The students were in their school uniforms. A special discount was kept for the students. We went to all stalls. We bought 30 books. We also met many writers and poets there. We enjoyed the fair a lot.
OUR SCHOOL ANNUAL INSPECTION
Conducted by District Education Officer…..reached with team before morning assembly…….escorted by Principal…….we sang National Anthem……show of P.T. with drum……our academic records were checked……impressed by our science and computer laboratories……visited sports room……art and craft room……Vice-Principal read the annual report……highly satisfied.
Last Monday the Annual Inspection of our school was conducted by the DEO. We had made special arrangements for that. The DEO reached the school at 7:30 am. There were four members in his team. They went to the Principal’s office. Then they were taken to the prayer ground. Our morning assembly was very good. The DEO team checked our school records.
They were up-to-date. They also visited our science-lab, computer lab, library ans sports room. The DEO asked questions from students. They held a staff meeting also. They went away very happy. It was a memorable day for us.
AN IDEAL CITIZEN
An asset to the nation……law abiding citizen is a real patriot……good civic sense……loyal to family society and country……makes proper use of his vote……pays tax……believes in world peace…..he works for the welfare and upliftment of his country…….fights social evils……must for the prosperity of a country.
An ideal citizen is an asset and pride of its nation. He is very honest and unselfish. He is loyal to his society and country. He has a good civic sense. He is aware of his rights and duties.
 He makes right use of his vote. He pays his taxes honestly. He has friendly relations in society. He obeys the laws of the country.
He believes in world peace. He believes in the welfare of others. He is also loyal to his family. He fights the social evils. He respects his elders and loves his younger. He is above caste and creed. He works for national unity. He is a real patriot.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
Living in polluted world …………………..air water food etc. …………….everything polluted …………..scientists listed the dangers of environmental pollution ………………all governments worried …………….man himself responsible ……………..use of fertilizers …………….nuclear testing ……………contaminating water ……………..several deadly diseases ……………an immediate control must
Environmental pollution is a major problem. We are living in a polluted world. Scientists have told us about its dangers. There are a lot diseases caused by pollution. It has become difficult to get fresh air and pure water. Even the food we eat is also polluted.
 The main causes of pollution are industrial and home waste, vehicles, cutting down of trees, poisonous gases in the air and throwing dirty things in the water. A lot of steps have been taken. But these are not enough. All should work to reduce pollution.
DRUG ADDICTION
Addiction to drugs is invitation to death …………….youth most affected ……………..waste their money and precious energy ………………..sometimes steal ……………….become violent ……………become criminals ………………..loose sense of good and bad ………….immediate steps needed.
Drug addiction is a critical problem in our country. It is becoming very common in our youth. It is a direct invitation to death. In the beginning, the young take it for enjoyment. But as the time passes, they become addicted. Then it is very difficult to give up the drugs.
 Even the girls are the victims of this. In today’s fast life, parents give less time to their children. In bad company they take to drugs. Drugs make people criminals. Police and political leaders are also involved in it. The society should come forward to end it.
SCIENCE FAIR IN OUR SCHOOL
Inaugurated by the District Education Officer …………..120 items on display …………. Most of them working models ………..showed newness …………… everyone fascinated ………………. Students explained with confidence …………..teachers had worked hard …………. Appreciated.
Last Monday a science fair was organized in our school. The students and teachers had worked very hard for the fair. The fair was held in the big hall of our school. The DEO was the chief guest. The students took a keen interest in showing their models.
Many of them were working models. The DEO visited the whole fair for an hour. The students explained their models with confidence. The DEO was very impressed. He praised the hard work of the students and the teachers. He liked the model of steam-engine and the space-rocket the most. The science fair was a real success. It was a memorable day for one and all.
INAUGURATION OF COMPUTER WING IN OUR SCHOOL
New computer wing ………… inaugurated by Principal polytechnic college …………. Generous grants from N.G.O. ………..organized a talk on role of computers …………..computers have revolutionized life ……… knowledge of the world thrown at man’s feet ……………. Urged the students to take maximum advantage of computer wing ……………… tea served …………… gave demonstration to handle the computer ………………. Students happy and proud.
Last Monday a new computer wing was inaugurated in our school. It was inaugurated by DR. Manav Sharma, the Principal of Govt. Politechnic College, Moga. On this occasion a talk was organized. It was about the role of computers in today’s life.
It was given by DR. Sharma. The talk was very interesting and informative. He told the students about different types of computers. He motivated the students to use computers. He also gave a long lecture on the uses of internet. The students felt very happy and proud.
FAST FOOD- A HEALTH HAZARD
Fast food ………. Quick and inexpensive ……………can buy just about anywhere ………….much popular ……… inexpensive because made with cheap ingredients ………..unhealthy ……………. Can lead to health problems like heart diseases and obesity ………. Boycott the habit of eating fast foods.
We have addicted to eating fast foods. This food is cooked very fast. You can buy fast food everywhere. They are very popular food items now-a-days. But these foods are injurious to our health. They loose taste and value while cooking.
Fast foods are cheap in quality. They cause a number of diseases in our body. Habit of eating fast food is very dangerous. It is a slow suicide. Fast foods are junk foods. They should be given up.
SMALL FAMILY IS A HAPPY FAMILY
The cost of living is high in today’s world …………… all countries facing population problems…………….. India has limited resources ………. Stress should be laid on family planning …………….Spread of education ………… less children …………. Good citizens …………… proper diet …………. Thus have children by choice and not by chance.
A small family is a blessing in today’s world. The cost of living is very high. A small family enjoys the life fully. They have only one or two children. So they have fewer expenses. They can give best education to their children.
They also have much time to look after their children. They can work hard to make a small house. They can also enjoy the luxuries of life. The parents can give a good diet to their children. It is rightly that a small family is a happy family
